Roofing Material: Slate

We have a wonderful roofing material in the UK called slate

Blue/Grey from Wales or Green from Westmorland (the Lake District).

This home-grown stuff is top quality, so cheaper stuff is often imported from China, Canada and Spain. It looks similar, but tellingly is not used on roofs in China, Canada or Spain.

I've been getting away with showing ArchiCAD shingle from the installed INT library as a substitute, but a decent choice of slate with good Lightworks properties would be most welcome.

The Norwegian Rusty Otta slate (Ottaskifer) is the most beautiful slate I know. (Attached image is by UK photographer David Churchill http://www.davidchurchill.co.uk/345-08.htm )

Extremely expensive

I've attached a slate texture I made for a previous project - might help in some cases.

I don't think the vote started a fire exactly, but the BMP is a great result (Thank you Ralph): The image and reality are both the work of craftsmen!
