Super Interactive Schedule!!!

Hello all -
I'm back on the forum after a few years(!!!),
still clunking away with AC 6.5 and reorganizing for 10.
Here goes:

IMAGINE the IS could list anything in the AC database -
not just the limited set we are allowed to doddle with.
Now,
Once the query kicks back with our info, lets just say,
all the 25cm concrete slabs under the FF -
we can pick ANY attribute of the objects retrieved and
CHANGE IT - composite fill, cover fill on/off, layer, pens etc.

This would turn the IS into a SUPER TOOL for
directly accesing and manipulating project data in list form,
something I came to appreciate after a few years working in GIS and ARCview.

This is currently impossible and can only be done by using the select
command with a filter and pushing through every story in the project,
sort of like replacing the carburetor via the exhaust pipe...
unless I forgot some AC basics

THAT's a huge jump! You won't look back... 😉

Would be nice and on the wishlist, but doesn't hurt to bring it up again!

You can do many of these things today (and in 9 and 8.1)...see the attached screenshot. The criteria are reasonably powerful, but as you note, we do not have access to all fields of all elements (or of other data - such as attributes)...so we can interact with the fills, layer, materials, but not the pens for slabs.

Welcome back,
Karl

ThanX Carl!
For some reason the interactivity on certain feilds was
blocked off, but now it seems fine.
AC10 does have a creamy feel to it, I must say... 🙂

Could expand the wish item with "Schedule Versioning" -
a sort of sub-file that alows you to toggle between various
Element Property variations, as opposed to the current
display/scale/layer states that can be set up in the views.
I suppose it could all be dumped and read back from a small XML thingy.
