ISSUE: It would be nice if Archicad had an import "firewall" setting that would stop/prompt/prevent undesired attributes from being automatically created when an object is copied into a file from an earlier version of Archicad. The type, amount, and naming convention of attributes seem to be ever-changing in each subsequent release of Archicad.
FRUSTRATION: Time, usually a lot of quality time is expended developing/updating template files. While it may appear easy to simply cut & paste elements from an earlier file, the unwanted baggage they bring is sometimes not worth the cleanup. While I will sometimes go into the host file and change some features to generic, to the extent possible, there is a limit to what can be changed temporally.
POSSIBLE SOLUTION: A pop-up dialog bock that provides a potential list of attributes that would be imported along with the graphics. A remapping of layers, building materials, fills, surfaces, line types, zones, etc., etc. would be possible.

A dialogue similar to when you delete attributes and it asks if you want to delete or replace with another attribute would be great.

Just to clarify: when you write "object", do you mean any element type or do you mean the "Object" element type, which is a GDL-based element type?
