Trace Reference and the Worksheet Tool

It would be handy if the worksheet tool could capture the current trace reference.

What do you mean by capture? Bring into the Worksheet Viewpoint as lines and fills and text?
If so, you can use the Switch Reference with Active button in the Trace Reference Palette, select the area you need with the Marquee, copy it to the Clipboard with CTRL+C, Switch Reference with Active again to go back to the Worksheet Viewpoint and paste those elements with CTRL+V.
