Zone 3D Export

ArchiCAD should allow the export of Zones in 3D formats.

We render most of our presentation stills and animations in Cinema4D. We would like to be able to maintain a consistent workflow in early design stages using Zones for massing studies - impossible at the moment because we cannot export the Zones.

I know Zones are not strictly the same as other 3D elements (as Mathew points out here) but I can see them in the 3D window, so ArchiCAD has defined a 3D form for them - so I don't see why it would be difficult to convert this into various 3D formats for export.

OK fixed ..

seems i had to actually add the Poll options

has this changed recently? I thought if you didn't specify your own it used the defaults (Essential, Important, Moderate, etc)

only when you post a topic in the wishes forum

whilst not essential - sorry owen - i can definitely see the benefits. i think primarily the zone needs to be more easily manipulated (ala sketchup pushpull stylie), before it can really be called a genuine massing study tool . . .

this, on the other hand, is most definitely an essential one . . .

Yes, but in the "Wishes" section.

Edit: you're quick, ~/ben, and I like your thinking on the push/pull idea.

double

can any mods move this Topic into the appropriate forum please?

well i had to vote Essential for my own poll didn't i? Completely understand its not going to be high on peoples lists though.

and i really like the idea of more SketchUp like modeling abilities in ArchiCAD for quick design work. The SketchUp import I have experienced in ArchiCAD is completely useless

this, on the other hand, is most definitely an essential one . . .
Yep. But I think if they fix that, then they will have fixed this also
