"Live" Details

As we are trying to work towards BIM Level 2 one thing that seems to be missing is the ability when doing Details, to extract out data that is already included within the Model Elements such as Specification References, Manufacturer's name etc.

You can do what I described in live Sections and 3d Document windows but it would be more consistent if Detail windows could also be "live" and then your notes for your Details would mostly be coming from the Model elements.

This would mean your annotation would be consistent and accurate.

The guide about Detailing covers many different workflow and approaches, similar to the one you mentioned above. Hopefully you can access it.

Thanks for those. Very nicely presented. To me it feels like a workaround rather than a choice like you have with Sections eg. Live, Manual Update or 2d Lines and Fills.

True, they could be called workarounds, but still, clever ways how to use Details and Sections together.
