"Replace" function in "Attribute Manager"

"Replace" function next to "Delete and Replace with...".

"Replace" function should work very similar as "Delete and Replace with..." just not deleting Attribute but only replacing it to other Attribute. This is useful when you what to change many elements at once, for example surfaces. . .

So you want to replace one attribute completely with another (effectively deleting it) but you want to keep the original attribute?

The replaced attribute will not be in use any more but will be available to use it again straight away.

Saves you having to import it back in from another file?

Is that what you mean?

Exactly. I don't want to make attribute import when I make "Delete and Replace With . . .". Just replace with other and keep both of them in file.

Just duplicate the original Attribute, delete and replace with then rename the duplicate to the original value.

Except that will create the same attribute with a new index number.

Which can be a problem if you copy and paste from another file or link modules.

It is better to import the attribute from another file so it keeps the same attribute number.

Or I guess you can use the new re-numbering or attribute option in 25 to set the duplicate back to the original number.
