The priority parameter is locked in the material and sometimes results in different copies of the same material only because it needs a different priority. When the priority is disconnected an can be changed as an instance parameter materials would be more flexibel.
And because the material is copied you also need to maintain all included parameters for two (or even more of ‘the same’) materials. That’s not efficient.
