Not just Revit users are confused by the messy ways of organizing type hierarchies. I'm not even asking for Families. Is it too much to ask for an easy way to check if a random element is at least somewhat standardized before cloning?
Why do you need to know what favourite was used to create an element?
If the element is what you want, just copy its settings or duplicate it.
Once an element is placed using a favourite, there is no link back to that favourite.
Hence I assume your wish.
But I am having trouble understanding why you need it.
The element becomes an independent entity with its own settings, which are unique to that placed element.
If everything you placed using a favourite was linked to that favourite, then you could never edit an individual element without breaking that link.
Sounds like you are wanting what many call an 'instance', for which there are wishes for this already.
The closest thing Archicad has to an 'instance' is a 'Hotlink'.
Where you can edit the hotlink and all placed instances of that hotlink can be updated (a hotlink can consist of more than one entity - it can be an entire model).
Thanks, Im wishing for instances/blocks for a long-long time while using modules.
The issue here is how to check if a selected element matches any of the favorite presets without manually checking all its parameters. It's not about the modeling process; it's about control and changes.

Sure, but why do you need to do that.
What benefit is there in knowing if an element was created from a particular favourite?
If you have an existing element and you want its settings, just use the pipette tool to set them and then place an identical element.
There is no need to worry about what favourite created it.

What is the benefit of being organized and having the ability to check one's own mistakes? 😁
Do you know what the difference is between blocks and families in Revit, btw? I don’t like Revit, but I find those functions very useful. And many Revit users seem very confused by how messy that made in Archicad.
Currently favourites are nothing more than a settings template which of course is somewhat useful on its own but the fact is that AC is lacking proper type-instance functionality. Having some sort of link between favorites (pseudo-types) and their placed instances would be a step forward as favorites then could be redefined and reapplied to all instances but I would much rather have GS come to term with how far from a modern approach to BIM they are and come up with a new approach where type-instance relationship is hard coded into model entities. We need to easily be able to define types and subtypes and just as easily assign/reassign types.
