Properties for Composites

Currently Properties can be used or Elements of the Building and for materials.

Compistes are combination of Materials that have their own Properties like maximal Fire Rating, Acustic insulation Vaues, Thermal insulation Values.

Having the ability to define Properties for Composites would allow to automate the quality of Modells.

Thanks

This is a wish that was worded in several ways already.

I call it Attribute Level Property. (ALP for short)

Basically the same applies to:

- Composites

- Complex Profiles

- Surfaces

The ALPs are totally independent from the currently available Element Level Properties (BLP)

ALPs are to be applied in the Attributes setting dialogue box.

For example, if I want to apply a Wall Type Code or a Fire Rating to a specific wall buildup, the logical place to do so is the Co.posite or Complex Profile setting window. This is where I should be a le to select which ALP sets apply to the selected group of Composites, then I should be able to fill out the relevant info. This info then should be usable for labels and schedules.

A sub setting should be openable from here, similar to how the Graphic Overrides work. The sub setting is where we should create the ALPs.

I'm dreaming of easy to do wall type schedules, finishes schedules, fire compartmentalise diagrams... etc

That's great!

I can now also expand on my suggestion.

It would be beneficial to have properties for surfaces, similar to how they are applied to building materials.

All of this would create a modular system where, as you mentioned, properties are assigned where they make sense. Archicad would then combine these property modules when exporting to IFC and adapt them to the IFC scheme, which allows properties only as part of building materials or elements.

This approach would also enable the creation of schedules without having to repeat information for each element, reducing errors and promoting a single source of truth.

This modularity would mean that if we have a composite for a drywall, we could define properties like fire rating and acoustic absorption in the composite properties, the properties of the finish (color, fire reaction, product, etc.) in the surface of the building material, and perhaps in a specific area, we might not have white paint but another finish like gold color.

In the IFC output, each wall would combine these modules, including the wall where we specifically decided to override the standard finish with the gold color.

I see this as an extension of your comment.

Thanks
