Data access with the Python API is limited. However, by using a AddOn Command Handler, Python Scripts can have access to all of the same data as a AutoText label does.I have created such a Handler as a experiment. Basically I just tacked on a new Handler to Tibor's example Handlers which are posted on his GitHub site.
I made a brief video describing the process. The Python script is very basic and has no applications. i will leave that to others.

I would be interested in any comments as to possible applications or improvements You can experiment with the Python script and AddOn apx file on my Github site referenced in the video description. Hopefully we will see such capabilities added to the Python API in the near future (26 ????)- is it possible?
