These are two separate 3D Views and both were included in the Publishing Set when the BIMx file was published from Archicad.
The first 3D View looks like it was generated as a monochrome model.
The second 3D View looks like
1. either the various types of wooden pieces were assigned different Surfaces or
2. Graphic Overrides were applied to them based on their structure type

Double click the other 3D model to see if that is the coloured one?
Otherwise any of these 3 options will show the material the model was saved with.
If you still don't have the true materials, then I think it was not saved with them.

When you hover the mouse over that preview, it should say "Click to View".
If you click, the coloured model should open.
It is basically the same as double clicking the 3D models in the list.
Just clicking once in the list shows the preview at the bottom.
So double click the model name in the list or click once and then click on the preview.
That should get you what you see in the preview.

I thought those previews were generated automatically from the 3D model.
You should get what you see.
I don't use BIMx all that much so can't be sure.
But if you open the built in demo hyper model, it seems to work as I have described.

If you open the app rather than opening a file, you should see the built-in demo model.
