3DS object names and AC12 Object IDs

Hello,

We are exporting our models to 3ds from AC12. Problem is the names (AC12 IDs) get completely lost and get replaced by something like 2:3:8 or 1:1:2.

As far as we have discovered, the second number is a subpart counter (e.g. windows have 16 or 20 subparts), and the last number is the type of object (e.g. slabs are 8 ). The first number though changes depending upon what you´ve done with the model in AC. It seems to somehow correlate with what objects have been modified and the order in which they have been touched.

In summary, all we need is something that either names the 3ds object with the IDs or at least that we can create from AC that correlates those two.

We´d appreciate any input on this. Thanks everyone!

Dan.
