COBie 2.4 MVD and AC21 new IFC translator dialogue

Hi everyone

I'm getting involved migrating to COBie and AC21, and I'm trying to understand how the MVD COBie 2.4 really works due to the changes in IFC translator dialogue.

Should I create a new XML adding manually the required COBie PSets and properties? The only 2 available xml files are the default IFC 2x3 Schema and IFC 4 Schema, so COBie properties don't appear.

In AC20 we could import the required COBie xml Scheme (US or UK version) with all the preset PSets and properties.

If I look in my (localised) ARCHICAD 21 version, I have following translator setup:

Scheme: Ifc2x3
MVD: Basic FM Handover (!)
Model Filter: most elements from architecture
Type Mapping: default AC21 Type Mapping
Geometry Conversion: Mostly extruded/Revolved and without junctions. No parts. Hierarchical elements are kept with hierarchy.
Property Mapping is default Ifc2x3 mapping (!)
Data Conversion: including classifications and only properties from mapping, but also quantities, space containment and boundaries.


I haven't produced any COBie files till now. I'm still learning myself. I have the book from Rob Jackson and also the Revit one, but so far there has been no COBie demand in our region.

You showed me Basic FM Handover MVD which is not the basis of the current COBie 2.4.

In my case:

Model View Definition: COBie 2.4

#Conversion Presets#

Model Filter: All 3D elements
Type mapping: ARCHICAD Classification 21
Geometry Conversion:
Parametric extruded geometry (where possible)
Property Mapping: Standard IFC2X3 Schema
Data Conversion: (!) Mapped properties only
Unit Conversion: (!) Metric (mm) (USD)

(!) Preset is no compatible with selected Model View Definition
