Graphisoft’s Open BIM approach continues to be the focal point, through which we support design teams in efficient multi-disciplinary collaboration.
During the summer of 2023, Archicad 27 became certified by the international buildingSMART organization for IFC4 Architectural Reference Exchange for Import. At the same time, Graphisoft continued to maintain its existing Export certification first credited to it in 2019. (You can read more about the Certification Program of buildingSMART here.)
The IFC4 standard (ISO 16739-1:2018) promotes consistency and efficiency in data exchange and communication, leading to better overall results in collaboration workflows. With the buildingSMART Certification for IFC4 Architectural Reference Exchange for Import, Archicad 27 supports all users working in IFC-based workflows with industry qualified software. Besides providing a competitive advantage for our clients, Graphisoft understands that a dual import-export certification environment is necessary to meet the growing demand for the best possible accuracy and regulatory compliance.
The RFA and RVT Geometry Exchange tool is an easier alternative for those who are not willing to use IFCs while collaborating with Revit engineers. The RFA & RVT Geometry Exchange for Archicad enables Archicad users to import RFA (Revit Families), including doors and windows, into their Archicad project as objects. It will also enable Archicad users to hotlink, import, and export RVT geometry (Revit projects) in and out of Archicad.
This is used for comparing imported RVT geometry to an Archicad model and exporting RVT geometry for comparison to a Revit model.
It is important to note that the geometry exchange between Archicad 27 and Revit 2024 will only become available with the introduction of the Archicad 27.2.0 Update which is expected to be released next spring. Until then, compatibility with Revit 2023 is provided for Archicad users.
Please note that from Archicad 25 The RFA & RVT Geometry Exchange is a part of the Archicad installation, you do not need to download a separate installer.
Graphisoft continues to provide an improved bi-directional data and model-based IFC collaboration solution through the IFC Model Exchange with Archicad for Revit 2024 Add-In.
Adding this plugin will allow Revit 2024 users to import IFC architectural models more efficiently, merge IFC models into their current Revit project as a non-editable reference, and export Revit model elements in IFC files that are specially enhanced for use in Archicad.
