Composite walls wrkflow

Hellow,

here is a screenshot of a composition using composite walls to achieve some real live wall behaviour in my country,

On the top you can see the final result, i had duplicated and selected it to show reference lines.

WHAT A MESS... i did it the right way, but teaching that to other users make them confused, and even hate the software, beacause of a lot of chaotic behaviour of intersections,

To create a clean intersection between composites you have to care about :

1 - Reference lines should intersect.

2 - Wall reference line position

3 - Building material priorities

4 - Intersection prioritites Index.

5 - Wall Height, overlapped walls vertically can cause problems

And, after all that, you need to trat some cases using columns, and workarounds,

Why you don't make it simple, please,

I opened this thread to discuss the techniques used by Archicad users to handle with theese situations,

Thanks !

I wonder how much modelling you could save by using "voids".

That is a technique based on the "Classic Murray", but instead you invert it: You use columns with a special "void" or air BMAT, that cuts thru everything.

I found this much easier to handle in cases like yours.

To be fair, that is an extremely complex wall you are modelling! The fact that AC or any other architectural design software can tackle it is impressive to be honest.

Yes, it daunting when AC has so many variables interacting with each other. I think the trick to using Archicad is to have a methodical approach, almost like a check list. start with 1 and go through all the variables carefully.

I would like to see GS implement some sort of customized reference table of all the possible variables affecting a chosen element so that they can be checked if a problem arises. Almost like the possibility to make a customizable schedule for any  element that is having problems. For example:  beam elements in my project are currently showing thick pen lines for their outlines in Section. I would like to be able to select a beam, and create a customized schedule of all the possible factors effecting line weights in section for that beam,so that I can then check them all.

Yes i presented one of the complex situations i face on my daily work, i'm trying to adapt the software to local construction standards,

The main goal is to have correct 2d and 3d presentation, with correct quantity take off,

Your idea of checklist is good and can help when working with walls

Can you explain please the void method please and how it can help ?

The final result should be presented correctly in 2d, 3d, and correct take off of components (wall skins surface)

Thanks 😀

Jared Banks already did that very well some time ago.

Hi Bouhmidage, really I appreciate your modeling efforts in this complex example and I’m passionate to know how you deal with composite walls to accomplish this type of walls while keeping in mind 2D & 3D presentation and QTO factors, thx in advance.
