Unable to import .3DS

Hi,

I've been working on a google sketchup model (since it's faster than ArchiCAD) but I now want to work on the model in ArchiCAD.

I've installed the .3DS add-on from the ArchiCAD goodies but when I go to design extras the add-on isn't listed. Also if I try opening it (File>Open) it says that it cannot be opened in this dialog.

How do I open the 3DS file in the standard ArchiCAD floor plan to work on it like a .pln file?

Thank You

I'm using ArchiCAd 14 on Mac OS 10.6.4 (latest)

I don't have that option, does it mean the add-on wasn't installed?

Thank You

You can usually see in the Add-on Manager where the add-on will appear in the user interface. It can depend on your current Work Environment profile.

Does this add-on work with the student version? I've never tried. Again, the add-on manager should let you know how successful installation was.

Cheers,

Not that this will help you find what may not be there... But,
I like using Apple's Spotlight (from the Help menu) to direct me to those seldom used commands.
You could use it to find "add-on manager"

In the Add-on manager, 3DStudioin is listed, however it has an warning (!) symbol next to it, under the 'Load' title.

With Add-on Manager selected.. what does it say in the "Add-on Info" box?

You should be able to download it from here:

http://www.graphisoft.com/support/archicad/downloads/ac14/int.html

I assume these work with the EDU version.

Cheers,

Yep got it sorted thank you . It's better that we can 'install' it rather than dragging it to the Add-on folder too.
