Questions on starting addon development for MacOS

Hello! We are planning on updating our addons to support MacOS for the first time and we have a few questions.

We're planning to acquire a Mac for development but it seems Apple sells only the M1 chip ver. now and based on this https://community.Graphisoft.com/t5/Let-s-get-started/Getting-Started-with-the-API-DevKit/ta-p/30363... Intel Macs are required. Does the API support the ARM Macs or should we use an Intel Mac instead?

Also XCode and system requirements aside, is there anything else you need for Mac development? I've read that Apple Developer membership is needed for releasing addons so we're taking care of that, anything else?
