Renderings look great. One MINOR problem,......no Mac version noted on their site.

..so get rid of your Mac and get a REAL computer.

Shouldn't be a problem for Mac - they supported it in the past.

BTW: How many are using Archilumos besides me?

Archilumos advantage: Built-in plug-in - no file export.

I checked the site and they do support Mac - it's just the demo version which is listed as Windows (though as a plug-in presumably it'll swing both ways?).

Can anyone tell me how this programme differs from AV-works?

This program produces a radiosity solution of high quality.
Radiosity differs from ray-tracing [as AV_WORKS creates] because it considers the color of reflecting surfaces in light rays.

It does a superior job to AV_Works as you can easily see from the rendering examples, although those images are done at very high radiosity mesh resolution - that takes a long time to solve - but a radiosity solution is made once for a model so subsequent images are really quick.

Lumos doesn't tolerate modeling conflicts well and cannot employ picture-mapped objects. 3D trees really slow it down, so one is limited to simple interior renderings....

Lumos also can employ the IES profile of light fixtures in solving a scene - allegedly meaning more accurate light effects.

While it is a straight forward plug-in, its radiosity quality is impaired because it uses the crude material definitions provided by ArchiCAD, lacking, for example, sub-surface reflections that enable subtle effects like marble.
