Multiple zone view control on one floor plan

Hello. Long-time architect here, but short-time Archicad user. I'm on 25 now. Having fun. I am back to the residential world now, on my own, from billion dollar hospitals....so I'm learning as I go.

I have set up my floor plans in the View Map as one normally would. I figured out how to create zones to allow me to do area take-offs then customize the schedule through expressions to give me cost/sf for different Construction Zone Types.

From my base floor plans in the project maps, I added the zones then created a new View based on the current view with the Zones drawn. So now I have a "Main Floor" and a  "Main Floor - Construction Type Zones" Plan. What has happened is that the zones appear in both floor plans. I was hoping they'd only show up in the second View that I created.

My question is: Is there a way to control the view of the Zones with duplicate floor plans (assuming I did that part right)? Do I have to use layers or is there some other form of view control?

Currently the Zones are tied to my Renovation Filter. Four zone types: Existing, Demolition, Existing to be Renovated, New Construction. They can be controlled by the reno filter but I'll like a further control to be able to have several versions of the zones on the same plan.

A bit long winded.....thanks for staying with me on this. Thanks!!

Hi Grant. We're all constantly learning new things about AC -- at whatever age! 😅

If you only want to switch zone visibility on or off for individual views, then layer combinations (in conjunction with the renovation filters that you're already using) are probably your best bet.

However, if you want to control how the zones look, then you'll want to go with Model View Options, and/or Graphic Overrides.

Hi Vistasp. Layer control looks like what I am looking for. As an almost 30-year user of AutoCAD I am used to the later control options. I was thinking there may be some Archicad dark-magic with the zone tool for controlling in different views. Thanks for the help. I'll set up the layers today. Grant
