How do I show uncut window solid panels in colour in elevation on a white model?

I am having trouble solving this issue.
I want to be able to retain a white model but also show solid panels on windows that have them in elevation.

Give the surface used for your solid panel material a 50% hatch (or similar).
Make sure you have 'Surface Cover - Foreground' active (used to be call Vectorial 3D Hatching).
