Text justify

Jeff-Taitano

Has the Justify bug been worked out yet? I've read through past posts where it doesn't work if you have a carriage return or if the line is too short. I need the text to justify in both cases.

I've found a workaround.

Simply add a space, followed by 'dummy' characters until they reach the end of the text box. This will push the 'dummy' characters to the next line and justify the content on the previous line. Note that you may need to split your text into multiple text boxes in order to align it properly. Please refer to the attached screenshot and GIF for the results.

A carriage return will stop that line from justifying to both sides and it seems the last line does not justify to both sides either.

A single line of text will not justify either.

I would consider these as bugs as well and will flag this post as such.

But it is probably a good idea to report this to your local support as well.

Thank you Barry, I have reached out to Support and received a support ticket. I will update this post if I receive any solutions!

In the meantime, is it perhaps possible to use Python to script my own Justified text boxes? I mainly use justified text for my Title Block and Cover Pages.

I have no idea sorry.

Maybe ask the question in the developers forum.

Hi all,

I have checked this in Archicad and Microsoft Word. The text is not justified in both software when using a carriage return/paragraph break (Enter key) or at the last/only line, therefore, I would not consider these as bugs.

It is possible to justify text in Word by using a soft return/line break (Shift+Enter), however, soft returns cannot be placed in Archicad. I added a WISH-13135 to add this functionality.

Thank you Oleksandra.

I believe I am using the wrong terminology to describe what I'm trying to do. Essentially I am converting all of my resources from Autocad to Archicad and my layouts use Distributed text that equally spaces all characters to the extents of the text box. I'm not sure if Microsoft Word has this feature, but I have used it in many graphics design programs previously.

I am actually able to somewhat emulate this in Archicad if I put a space in-between each letter of each word and double space each word, but it does not work on the last line.

Screenshot of the almost workaround in Archicad using Justified text:

I appreciate you adding a wish for this feature.

Cheers,

Jeff

Jan,

Thank you for this workaround! This should work until a Distributed text feature is implemented at some point.

I appreciate everyone's input on this and the quick resolution. Still getting used to Archicad so working through small workflow issues like this with the community is a great help.

Cheers,

Jeff

More than just making the text white, you should probably also reduce it's size as it may show if you need to overlay anything or make use of the transparent background in some way.

In Indesign, the options are; Justify with last line aligned left, Justify with last line aligned centred and Justify all lines
