Apple Software Updater just downloaded and installed

2007-03-15 09:00:32 -0400: Installed "QuickTime" (7.1.5)
2007-03-15 09:00:54 -0400: Installed "iTunes" (7.1)
2007-03-15 09:01:19 -0400: Installed "Security Update 2007-003" (1.0)

AC10 is now having major problem on 2 Mac (PPC) machines.

Problems:

1. If I open the library part tool, AC10 crashes - everytime.

2. Going to certain stories within a project will cause AC10 to crash.

Im fairly certain that the problem is the QuickTime Update ...

How can i fix this problem?

Thank you

This was sent by my re-seller:
"A recent upgrade of QuickTime (7.1.5) causes ArchiCAD to crash in various circumstances on Mac OS X 10.3. We strongly recommend not to install this QuickTime update. Once installed, it can not be down-graded or removed. The only known solution to remove QuickTime 7.1.5 is a complete system reinstall.

Mac OS X 10.4 is not affected by the problem. ArchiCAD 9 and earlier versions are also not affected. We have reported the problem to Apple. Updates on this topic (possible solution to uninstall QuickTime) will be posted on ArchicadWiki: http://www.archicadwiki.com/Bugs/QuickTime_crash_on_MAC_OSX_10.3"

You could upgrade to 10.4

Start by stating your OS and Archicad version ...

Not on the Mac, but in another thread where this problem is explined in detail,

http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=15252

upgradining to OS10.4 solves the problem, it seems?

SOLUTION!!

Solution found at ArchWiki which i didnt know existed until today. It is indeed a problem with OSX 10.3 and QuickTime 7.1.5

This is how you can downgrade QuickTime 7.1.5 to version 7.1.3:

1. Download Quicktime 7.1.3 installer:

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime713formac.html

2. Mount the installer package. This is very important.

3. Download and install Pacifist from this location:

http://www.charlessoft.com/

4. Run Pacifist. In its dialog press the "Open Package" button. Browse for the .PKG file in the mounted package. In the appearing list Right Click on the .PKG and from the context menu choose "Install To Default Location". Please note that if you mistakenly select the unmounted .DMG file into Pacifist instead of the PKG, there will be an installation but without an effect.

5. Check in the "User Administrator Privileges" checkbox. Press Install.

6. When asked tell the installer to replace the already existing files. Do this with all the files.

7. When the install process is finished restart the computer.

8. Run the QuickTime 7.1.3 installer package again WITHOUT Pacifist and let it install the files again.

9. Restart the computer

Works Perfect!!!

Another Solution:

After struggling with this same problem all week (it seems), I tried installing Mac OS X 10.4 and that has also solved the problem. No more crashes! Great sigh of relief...

Does anyone know, if the newest update for quicktime (7.1.6) fixes this problem or if we can wait for any solution? Updating to 10.4 is a good idea, but needs new licenses!
