Archicad 26 is running vey slow on a fast computer

I have a fairly fast Dell XPS computer with 16GB RAM, 1GB SSD, 2TB hard drive, NVIDIA RTS graphics card, all running Win 11. It is running very slowly, taking measurable seconds to respond to Archicad instructions such turning on, and turning off marquees, selecting library parts, etc, etc. I have 783GB of spare space on my SSD and 1.72TB left on my hard drive. The project I am working on is a small house extension.

Where should I start looking?

Is this happening to all your files?

Check another project.

Merge the file to a  new file.

Deleting Libraries which are added, one by one .

Repairing the file

Deleting part by part the project, or deleting floors one by one.

There might be a corrupted element somewhere.

Assuming it is just that file having problems?

I would close the file (obviously save if you need to), leave Archicad running.

Go to the FILE menu > Open > then Open again.

Browse for the file and thick the "Open & Repair' option.

If that doesn't fix it, try turning all layers off and turn them back on one (or a few) at a time.

Marquee, view in 3D or do what ever you found was slow.

If it seems fast, turn on some more layers and repeat.

Hopefully that will give a clue where the problem lies.

If it is slow with only one layer on and no other files are affected. then it is something more involved in the file.

Something in the Archicad layer (as it can't be turned off, or maybe Solid Element Operations.

This will be harder to find what the problem is.

If you can try the file on another computer.

Even if your project is small, if the project management is poor it can kill the performance. There is a very comprehensive guide on how to optimize the project performance on Community here: How to Optimize Your Project Performance
