BIMx Viewer Windows 2008 R2

I'm trying to get BIMx Desktop Viewer 18 running on a Windows 2008 R2 Server. When I launch the application I get a black screen with the text "Graphisoft BIMx 18.3006 Viewer Version" then it crashes.

It's a Virtual Machine running on ESXi that has a dedicated Hardware Graphics accelerator (NVIDIA Quadro K4000), there is NO virus protection at this stage although I intend to introduce some when I confirm everything is working. Hardware specs are 16GB Mem , 4 vCPU.

These are the system requirements for the BIMx Desktop Viewer:

http://www.graphisoft.com/support/system_requirements/AC18/bimx.html

So it could be that the program and the OS are simply not compatible, 2008 being an old system now. The page specifically states that XP and Vista are not compatible, so probably 2008 is not compatible either, although not mentioned specifically.

I fear you could be right, however Windows Server 2008 R2 is the Server version of Windows 7, I find it very strange that it works on Windows 7 but not on Server 2008 R2. This will be the first application I've seen that exhibits this behavior. I suspect it's more something like a dll version or required component missing...
