64MB nVidia Quadro NVS 280, Dual DVI or Dual VGA
128MB ATI FireGL V3100, Dual VGA or DVI + VGA (most apt to order)
128MB nVidia Quadro FX 1300, Dual DVI or Dual VGA or DVI + VGA
256MB nVidia Quadro FX 3400, Dual DVI or Dual VGA or DVI + VGA

Don't forget that for renderings, the graphics card has (virtually) zero effect. Important variables for renderings are processor speed and RAM.
As for 'general usage', check for;
- FULL Open GL support (not just 'Doom' compatability)
- Ram size (64 is on the low side)
- AC compatability. AFAIR, there used to be some issues with Archicad and some ATI cards, however recently it seems that nVid cards are sometimes having issues.
Would your hardware reseller not let you test the card before confirming the purchase?
