Creating Modules out of 2D objects in Section/Elevation

Anonymous

From what i can gather, one cannot create a 'module' out of 2d objects (lines, for example) from a section or elevation view. You can, however, do so from a plan view.

Is that correct?

If this is correct, what is the work around here? Creating GDL objects?

If one has to resort to using GDL objects for 2D lines in section/elevation, how does one go about easily changing the definition of this newly created GDL object after it was created?

Is there an model-friendly 'editor mode' where one can easily change the object's 'definition', or is the only way to manipulate a GDL object, after you make it, is to wade through a scripting interface?

I feel like i'm missing something obvious.

Thanks.

The answer are Patches.

Draw a marquee around what you want and go Document-> Document Extras-> Create Patch.

All the benefits of Modules and Library Parts with all their limitations 😉

Oh... nice.

That seems to be in a unrelated, dusty corner of the archicad UI.

Thanks!
