This article is intended to help troubleshoot an unsuccessful CodeMeter Hardware Protection key conversion process. If you are presented with an error at the end of the CodeMeter key Updating process, then some parts of the conversion were not successful, or the conversion was not successful on some of the license keys plugged into your machine.
Try re-running the installer to make sure that the malfunction of the converter was not caused by a temporary glitch.
If all else fails the conversion can also be done manually, without the automated installers. For this please follow the instructions below:
For the KEXT to HID conversion, the CodeMeter Firmware version must be at least 2.02. To check your Firmware version and upgrade it:
Open CodeMeter Control Center from Applications/CodeMeter
Click on your key
Check the version, and if it is lower than 2.02 then click the icon next to it to update the firmware
IMPORTANT: Firmware update might take several minutes, please do not interrupt the process and don't unplug the dongle.
For older CodeMeter hardware keys with a specific controller version, there is no firmware version 2.x, because these controllers do not possess sufficient memory for the changed firmware update procedure that was introduced as part of version 2.0. If you have such a key, please ask your reseller to replace it.
Configuration as HID
Type the following command and press Enter: cmu ‑‑serial x-xxxxxxx ‑‑set-config-disk HidCommunication
Where x-xxxxxxx is the serial number of your Hardware key displayed in CodeMeter Control Center Example:
As it prompts in the Terminal, unplug and re-plug the CodeMeter key back in to finish the process.
IMPORTANT: If you convert a NET key make sure to have the borrowed licenses returned before unplug.
