21 things never to do in Archicad

Today I came across this list, which talks about 21 things one should not do in Archicad:

https://wwabim.wordpress.com/2020/11/20/21-archicad-party-fouls/

I checked the list and concluded that I have committed 5 of these 21 things in a recent project I worked on. To be fair, it was a small project and I did not get paid enough to care to do everything the supposed way.

What do you guys think about this list?
How many points do you agree with?
Which points do you think are the hardest to keep?

Agree with them all

The toughest one is to track down that minor model error where you have inadvertently drawn something 0.5mm too small or too big or 0.5 degree out!

Good list indeed!

This is a great list of dumb things we’ve all done at one time or another.
Follow the links. Some really useful information here.

I do feel that some of these things could be reasonably prefaced by “If time allows...”
And if ArchiCAD ever learns to reliably clean up non-orthogonal three-way composite wall intersections, I’ll be glad to stop hiding those with fills.

I'm sad to admit, but this on I can agree on many times.

As for the list I do not agree with Nr. 19 - DO NOT Save objects as objects/door leafs/etc. for custom GDL parts.
Sometimes I do have to model an existing building with repeating structural concrete elements, which are way easier to model in 2d as a slab, which I save rotated into a project dedicated library folder. The geometry of such elements in some cases is not something one could do with any Archicad tools. The only other way I can think of would be to convert a such slab element into a morph and rotate it. Would this make a difference?

The line says:
19 - DO NOT Save objects as objects/door leafs/etc. for custom GDL parts.

I think he does not mean "DO NOT save elements as objects..."
He states "DO NOT save OBJECTS as objects..."
I think there are people who take a library part (placed with the OBJECT tool), select it along with some other elements, and then save THAT as another OBJECT.
E. g. one places multiple kitchen cabinet Objects, select all of them, and saves that as a new Object.
I think that is what he advises against.

Laszlo, thank you for your explanation. It's my limited English language know-how which limits my understanding sometimes. Also it was beyond my imagination to save a group of objects as an object, as it makes no sense at all.

Hello,

I admit that I am sometimes concerned by points: 8,9,14 & 21 which therefore sometimes involves periods of cleaning my work files.

Yeah, it is kind of wild to think that some users are saving objects plus other elements as another object, but I have seen it happen.
