Does anyone know how to dimension 3D elements in the 3D window of archicad as the dimension tool is greyed out in the 3D window

You can not do any annotation in the 3D window unless you use a 3D dimension object or a 3D text object - but I wouldn't bother.

As Eduardo mentioned save your 3D view as a 3D Document and annotate there.
This is essentially a 2D document that allows all the annotation tools to be used but also remembers the 3D geometry so the dimension will be correct.
It also remembers the exact viewing angle (camera location) but can be re-defined if you want.

It is not possible to dimension angles in 3D Document Viewpoint. The Angle Dimension Tool is disabled in the 3D Document Viewpoint to indicate that.
