Any suggestions modeling a cedar shingle arch?

I'll attach a photo, however it is more complex than I need (but convenient). I want to model a cedar shingle arch over an entry porch. I want the cedar shingles to generate in 3D, especially in the sketch rendering. I am object challenged, to say the least. I want the rows of shingles to expand up to the fascia, so the whole eave is made of rows of arching shingles.

I guess a further question would be how could you model the arch and doodle above the window in the picture so it would generate in 3D modeling. After all, this s BIM. This seems painful to think about.

thanks for any ideas.

C'mon, Rick ...

Can you draw the shingles in the plan? Yes? Do it with the slabs, base center at 0,0,0 (origin on the zero level storey).

Then make the object (see Help, excellent explanation).

Done.

Yeah, I suspected as much:)

Guess I"ll give that a shot, maybe with roofs so I can lap them and get a proper shadow.

thanks

You might try meshes if the top is to be sloped and the bottom flat?

Ha... that post was 10 years ago.  That photo is from the early 90's and was hand drawn on the wall as I was nailing the shingles up:) I thought I'd reuse it somewhere.  Probably never did try and generate it for a rendering, too much work (for me:)  That said, I'm sure Djordje is right, of course.
