Is it better to use a mesh when creating a slope?

If it is a constant slope and/or you want the top and bottom surfaces to be parallel then use the roof tool.
Otherwise the mesh is what you need.

You can also create slopes with stairmaker. When opening the stairmaker there is an option at the top between stairs and slopes.
