Favorites List in AC10 - How do you.......

How do yall use this new feature of it only displaying the items of the selected tool? I've been playing with this for some time and have tried to set it up to work best, but I'm not sure I like the way I am doing it now. I'm interested in knowing if anyone uses this more in AC10 than they did in AC9.

Currently - I have a favorite set up for each of the most commonly used items - ie. 001-Walls, 002-Slabs, 003-Roofs etc. etc.. I then setup additional favorites of these same types - but with larger numbers - ie. 102-Log 8", 120-Int 2x4 Gyp x2, 2-2x6 Porch Roof, 202-Main Floor 11 7/8 BCI etc. etc.

This way - I double click on the 001-Walls and the list clears out all non-wall items, bringing all of my other walls up to a viewable area. Then I double click on the actual wall I want to use. This works the same with my 004-Doors - brings up 10-15 other doors that are previously below the viewable area that I can choose from. Its the same with all the different tool items.

Is anyone else useing it this way? Do you have a better way? I'm figuring that if I can use my 'most used' items at the top - then all my 'other' options below the viewable area - then I could have hundreds and hundreds of favorites in this list, but still have them very manageable.

Do you use the new AC10 Favorites feature? How?

sounds as though you've struck on the best methodology, sir!

and if there is any way of tying in the reference numbers you're assigning them with a building classification system/specification/cadimage's key notes then things all begin to click together . . . .

Sure does. The only real change is the new preference to show favorites of active tool only.

I always thought this was blindingly obvious, but Woodster got a bunch of positive feedback from it, so it may be worth pointing out his tip:

There's not much else to it really. They are still powerful IMHO and well worth using.

Cheers,

indeed. Thanks.

The link that Link provided (no pun intended) is a great idea/tip. I had considered doing that as soon as I learned about the favorites list. But I felt that opening a new list for each type would be a big time killer so I managed to keep my list relatively short, (one favorite for bathroom objects - just to get to the correct folder - then using the settings dialog to pick a different bathroom object)

I'm still working on getting these organized, but with a bit of work today I have got a pretty good start on it. I was just wondering if there was a better way. I kind of like the tree structure idea, but this will work just as well I guess. Thanks.

We are all pleased with the improvements in 10, but most of us are still craving more.
