How to say in English?

Hi guys, I would like to know two architectural exressions in English. A friend of mine is putting together a resume about his works and we don't know how to say these in English.

1. The first one is when you have an attic under a roof which so far has been empty and now you build it in so there are now flats or apartments of whatever in that attic space. What is the official architectural term for that?
2. The second one is when you have an existing building with so many stories and you build one or more additional stories on top of those? What is the term for that one?

Thanks
Laszlo

I agree with Rick.
As for question #2, depending on what you are adding here they are sometimes called Penthouse additions. These are for separate unit(s) added on top of the roof.
If you are adding stories to a house, not for a separate unit(s) this wouldn't apply. Perhaps Rick knows of a particular name for this other than adding-up or adding stories?

It is usually one or more full stories built on top of existing stories, so I think "story addition" will do.
Thanks guys.

That'll do for the US, but for the rest of the English speaking world don't forget the "e".

Maybe I tell him to write "stor(e)y additions" so as to make it worldwide-compatible.
