Joining of building Materials changed in 24

David Shorter
Advisor
It appears there is a change 23>24 and that is identical Building Materials do not joint seamlessly in all cases For some reason building materials do not join seamlessly UNLESS they are same "Structure" type. Worked fine in 23.
It seems that "Basic" walls do not join with the same materials unless they are "Basic". Similarly "Composite" walls join with "Composites" but not with "Basic"

I checked this and it is working fine for me in AC24 as well.
Make sure that the middle skin in your Composite is the exact same Building Material as the Building Material of the joining Wall. On the screenshots, they look different, even their Pens look different. It is not enough for their Cut Fills to be the same, their Building Material has to be the same.

If I bring a file from 23 > 24RC1>24 3008 I get the problem
If I do a New and reset in 24 3008 AUS and start from there then all is fine.

Why do you open the AC23 file in AC24 RC1? Why don't you open it directly in AC24 R1 (b3008)?
The only file types you should open with AC24 RC1 are AC24 beta files to resave them in a format AC24 R1 understands.

Down here in AUS we have not had the R1 version until today.
Just upgraded my license so now I am off to download the software.
I'll try to test David's problem later today if I can.

Just did a quick test and no problem with basic and composite walls merging.

David, is the hatch pen colour difference in 24 deliberate by you?
Or is that suggesting there is something different about the walls - graphic override or renovation filter?

Maybe you could select the walls in 24 and save as a module.
Then zip and attach the model here for us to have a look at.

Guys I wouldn't worry... it seems to be a one off and I haven't been able to repeat it with any other files.
I reported it because it happened!!!
In AUS we weren't able to update to 24 until Tuesday the 22nd July hence the use of RC1.
