Length of Rafters

Lazlo,

I need the length on the slope of my rafters to show up in my Framing Schedule.

Is there any option in the Calculation fields to do this?
I didn't find any fields in the calculation setup that will give you the actual length of a rafter or inclined beam. Is there one?

It seems like an easy piece of information to include in the objects properties.

How do you do tweak the GDL script for the object to show actual length instead of length on the run.

The other function that I would like is for the program to summarize the combinations of all lengths into units of 2' multiples starting with 8'. Its the number of 12', 14', 16' ect... that I need to know, as well as the individual lengths, and total of all lengths combined.

Surely one of you GDL gurus can make and add-on to do that. It would be a very valuable tool.

Now how do I get the Roof wizzard to choose my tweaked objects instead of the old ones?

I will need to add the slope length parameter to all of the roof objects, jacks, valley, hips...this is starting to get complicated.

Maybe you do not have your AC 9 Object Library extracted from the Object Library 9.PLA file. Extract the library to a folder and load that folder as your library. Then, any change you made to a library part can be saved into the same file.
Currently you must have two copies of the object, one is in the Object Library 9.PLA file, the other is the one you saved after modification. In such a case it is up to chance which one ArchiCAD will choose. So there should be only one.

Yes. It is something like that. The roof wizzard is not using my new parts. I still need to work on getting the new object parts in to the correct file location.

Just saw this, and have not read all the comments, but this might help. I will post a sample of the way my list look, plus a file you can add to your Library>Property Data>Roofmaker Library. It will round off (up) in 2' increment for your list. If you are using Roofmaker then you should be getting the actual length, just axact... which does little good for listing.

I did not make this, paid for it... but it works... I just don't know anything about it.

hummm... it seems to not be allowing me to add a .ISM attachment

if you would like it email me

Thanks Rick,
that would be great! I will watch for it.

The lists I am trying to make are a little different than some because I want to get the cut list using the interactive Schedules instead of the List Componants method.
