Level dimensions from point cloud

Hi,

Just wondering what the workflow is to get level dimensions from a point cloud in plan?

I have imported a point cloud but when I try to get level dimensions from it in plan, everything displays as zero. I have set the gravity to 'mesh' and it still does the same thing. I'm sure my settings are wrong somewhere, anyone know how to get this to work?

Point clouds are literally just a cloud of points, they have no surfaces or volume.

To get levels from a point cloud you need to use Archicad's tools to create elements (eg mesh) from which you can measure. You will need to model mesh, add points and move them to snap to match the point cloud.

That's good to know, thankyou. I guess what people (me) should be doing with point clouds in that case would be to extract the x,y,z coordinates of each point from the point cloud and compile them into a txt file for import into AC as 'surveyors data' to get a ready made mesh, as opposed to remodeling the whole thing based on dots.
