Reference Planes

Hello,
That's because Archicad doesn't have the same logic as Revit ; depending on what you want to do you can just use the 2D or 3D guide lines to place or align your element.

If you mean place items automatically on top of slabs, roofs, mesh, shell there is a gravity button.

You also have home story as a link and can set up any offset to that in the settings dialogue.

Walls and columns can be linked to stories with top and bottom, meaning they will adjust in size if you change the story settings of your project.

For horizontal 'grids' there is the grid and grid snap you could use if it is indeed a simple grid. There is also the multiply option for editing, where you can copy items around based on number, distance, matrix etc etc

I've never worked with revit, so no clue what 'reference planes' are supposed to do. But those are just some of the options for helping you place items along with the guide lines that were already mentioned.

I don't understand this logic. How can you create a CAD without reference planes? This seems like total retardedness;) How can you place all the stuff in the house without some kind of reference plane? There must be some kind of workaround?

How can you do any engineering without reference planes?

Well, first of all, it's definitely not engineering here;)
