Unfortunately not mate.

It is 'by design' that we can have something selected on the floor plan (or even section/elevation) and something completely different selected in the 3D window.

It enables us to further refine what we want to see. For example if we select 10 things in the floor plan and choose to 'Show Selection/Marquee in 3D', then once in 3D we can choose just 5 of those elements and do it again, to show just those 5 elements in 3D. Then we can toggle between those and showing All (not the original 10, but everything), and then reselect other things to show in 3D - all within the 3D window!

So that 'feature' negates the logic of your request. Sorry.

Want you might want to investigate is Selections, available under your Window>Palettes menu. Selections can be stored and recalled from any window - it even provides a handy little icon to let you know what kind of window you selected it from.

Cheers,
Link.

Another, temporary way to transfer selections:

Sometimes the plan view gets so complex with overlapping elements that the only way to see and select an element is in the 3D window.

Once you have it selected in the 3D window, engage the Find and Select dialog and option-click the element to transfer its parameters to the Find and Select choices list. If it is unique, then you won't need many choices on the list to define the selection. However, the more similar the element is to others, the more selection parameter choices you'll need to establish the unique choice.

Switch to the plan and use Find and Select to get it for you.

You can use the selections palette (window menu/palettes). Save the selection while in the 3D window and then go to the 2D window and use the selection palette to select the saved selection.

Thanks everyone~ I had 2 SEO roofs for cutting walls right on top of each other - and had a hard time distinguishing them from plan view.

Great tip - haven't thought about this - I always went back to plan view to select / marqee again.
