Substituting 100s of objects wt various rotation?

Hi,
I've got a large main model and eight module files with interior objects from IFC. I want to substitute some of the objects with more nice looking ones from the AC lib or my own cleaned up objects made directly from the ifc-objects. When I select all instances of a chair...they are in many directions and my "substitute" only comes in in it's original one direction and I need to move and mirror a lot. Is there a way to avoid this? It's a 40000 m2 hostpital so loads of objects....

You can keep the rotation when you have the existing objects selected and use the ctrl + alt + click on the new object in the tool settings. The problem is that it also transfers dimensions so if the new object got other dimensions you might want to open up the existing object and change it's parameters so that the dimensions are not transferable.

I would try to create a schedule were the parameters are:
1. Object Name
2. Object Rotation
and check Merge Uniform items

Hopefully this will let you select all the items with the same rotation and substitute them to match
