When placing a drawing onto a layout using Place Drawing , the Drawing Map opens and all the folders are open, which means I have to scroll through lots of drawings, or start closing folders.
Is there an option available to toggle the View Map to open without all the folders automatically open?

Unfortunately not. I’ve added this as a wish. Hopefully the palette will get updated with the search feature introduced with AC26.
On a Mac you can hold option and click on the expander arrow on the uppermost folder and they will all close then you can expand each folder individually. Not sure if there is a similar process on windows.

@Lee Hankins along with the relink selection!
If your Drawing Settings are preconfigured (or use Favourites) I have always found it quicker to just drag the drawing from the Navigator View Map onto the Layout sheet; with AC26 this is even quicker if you apply a search.

Thanks for adding to the wish list. Unfortunatley this option doesnt exist on Windows, which would work nicely.

You need the Drawing Map when you Link Drawing To.
Can you explain how you use favourites for this ? Sounds interesting and I woud like to learn a new trick. Thanks

@Strawbale23 Nothing exciting, I mix my drawing frames with & without titles. All I was suggesting is preset your drawing frame using favourites and then when you drag a View from Navigator onto your Layout it should have the relevant frame / title block.

Ok, so mainly for the frame style.
My method now which I learnt recently from this forum is to copy a drawing from an existing Layout and paste it in, then relink to the correct drawing. This means that the drawings remain consistent in their positioning and layout.
I don't like the drag method because it has to then be sized and positioned on the layout each time which I personally find tedious.
I would really like to see GS spend some time on quality of life UI tweaks. Colored folders for example. At the moment the AC UI is a uniform, blank gray/black which makes information scanning more of an effort. I would like to be able to color code Tabs (sections 1 color, Elevations another ) Same for Folders in the view map.
I would imagine that most people using AC are visual people....I certainly am.

All valid solutions, which I use as well. It depends on what you need to add to your layout.
100% agree on the UI, but my discussions with GS on its importance to efficient working seem to be ignored. If you have tried macOS dark mode you will appreciate what a mess they have made of the UI recently; dark grey on black or even better, white on white. 🙄

The problem is that most software UI is designed by software engineers.
AC UI could be far substantially more intuitive.
The added value that this would give to selling the software to a client demographic that is primarily visually/spatially orientated would be substantial.

Just been reminded that the list of drawing references is also used in Define Marker Reference for linked markers.
In summary it would be good to see the following lists with search added:
- Place drawing reference.
- Link drawing to.
- Define Marker Reference for linked markers.
