PLEASE DIREGARD... I misread the question, thinking you were asking if you should WORK IN AC on the machine that you designate as your server.
Yes, but in reality... if the BIM SERVER takes on a lot of activity from "outsiders" you will regret it....
It's a huge drain on server resources and renders your "working mode" next to useless while being accessed...
Mine is set up that way because I don't have a choice...

Yes.
Works fine for us.
Having separated our office server and BIM server it is good to have both together. When main server needs maimtenane We can keep productive with BIM server

I was thinking of a dedicated computer for the BIM-server. 2 pcs of 1 TB discs, 8 GB RAM, i7, win 64. Cheap machine actually that would be used solely as a BIM-server.
The license server would be another (any) computer in the network. It is probably wise to install the license server on two machines in case of hardware crash...coffee-shower etc.
I think I'll go for this solution.

GS has just put out a video on YouTube about installation of the BIM Server.
It is a nice step by step guide. There are branches of the video for Mac and Windows users, also for LAN and WAN deployment. You have to click buttons in the video when choices are offered.
It also gives various recommendations for the BIM Server machine.
One of them is to have a dedicated BIM Server.
