I'm farely new to this industry and still figuring things out so...

I am still a bit lost about the BIM server and how excatly it works.

As I understand the software itself sits on every computer you wish to use in the collaboration but the model sits on the host computer and all the changes made, are made to the host model?
So every other computer is more of a shortcut to the model and the host does all the heavy lifting?
Or are we still changing models on our own computer and the information of changes are then shared by the software (BIM server) with the delta-server technology?
The name "BIM server" and all the marketing promotions do not tell the details that I actually need.
So I am very thankful if somebody took the time an explane this software or share a link where I could read more technical side of the story.

Thanks!

Yes - the BIM server collates the changes as it were, but check out Laszlos link for the official phrasing...
