As noted in the topic SELECTION TOOL it is possible to vary the way the selection tool works in CAD packages such as AutoCAD and Allplan so that drawing an enclosing rectangle from left to right selects elements entirely enclosed by the rectangle, whereas drawing the rectangle from right to left selects everything that crosses the rectangle.
The feature could be made active in much the same way as the Selection methods currently available (it could be a third option). Ideally the rectangle would be colour coded to remind you what selection method you are using.
