Can the Display settings for Elevation & Sections be View map based rather than project map based this would allow users to have more display freedom for their elevations & sections

It is very much needed... Thanks for raising this issue.

Unless I am missing something in your question, you can save Elevation/Section views in your View Sets with any setting you like with "View Settings".

Thanks,

yes, but the Elevation/Section settings when altered will be applied to all the clones of the concerned elevation/sections... in short, as originally mentioned, the settings are project map based... Only remedy would be to place duplicate elevation/section source markers, and have separate settings in project map for them.

We are talking about these type of settings concerning model appearance etc:

I have always been able to achieve the look I want through Grapical Overrides if needed, but that may not work for you with what you are trying to achieve.

Thanks,

What about shadows?

If I use shadows, it is all or nothing; I have never had the need to show the same section with or without shadows. However, I see your point if you need that regularly. The only thing I could recommend is another Section Line. If I were representing the same section two different ways, I would have two different markers as well, allowing separate settings, but that is my preference.

Thanks,

Working for a project home builder with many standard plans, we like to have a 'sketch' version of plans and elevations as well as the actual construction documentation all in the same file.

Our sketch elevations we like to be coloured with shadows but the construction elevations have no colour or shadows.

It would be nice to control the shadows and surface colours in the view settings.

A second elevation marker does work, although it of course increase the number of elevations in the project map.

And you have to control visibility of the markers with layers.

Versions 6.5 to 27
Dell XPS- i7-6700 @ 3.4Ghz, 16GB ram, GeForce GTX 960 (2GB), Windows 10
Lenovo Thinkpad - i7-1270P 2.20 GHz, 32GB RAM, Nvidia T550, Windows 11

Exactly. Just that my sketch version is my permit version, as shadows allow a better way to understand the volumetric composition. It is doable (just like you described it, but it’s tedious). Given the fact that the features are there, just need a new way of controlling them, it would be a nice qol improvement and a solid addition to the bottom of the new features list pdf 🙂
