Make the Reference Trace 'inactive'

Does anyone share the problem that the reference trace (or ghost storey in Rel 10) sometimes gets in the way?

Object snaps, dimensions, trimming operations etc often reference the trace rather than the active model. Of course, you can make it invisible, complete the action, then make it visible again. But I would quite like to have an option to make it inactive - so that it's visible but can't be referenced by mistake.

this is a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' situation: if you turn off the ghost's nodes you can't use it to line up elements that you're working on. if you leave them on, they are too easy to snap to when you don't want them . . .

personally, i would prefer to have them and work with more care . . .
