Navigator Preview Window with zoom/pan while in 3D mode

Stress Co_

a simple wish:

The ability to zoom in (and pan), in the Navigator Preview Window, while using the 3D (PERSPECTIVE) WINDOW.

It would make changing view points around the model so much easier. As it is .... (in some cases) The model is so small... I can't see the "viewpoint to target" arrow/line. In others.... I'm off the Preview window.

Maybe solve the new users getting "Lost" in 3D perspectives.

I might be misunderstanding your wish, but I think you can definitely zoom in/out in the Navigator Preview Window by dragging the Camera Location to the appropriate place.

Are you in the 3D perspective window?

Yes, you are right, moving the Camera in the Navigator Preview Window will move its position but will keep its height.
The next best thing is to just use the mouse scroll (which will also move the Camera Position).

True.

But the wish is to zoom/pan in the preview window.

I use the preview as a "Map". I want to move around that "map" to instantly & precisely change the 3D viewpoint / target. When the model is large (or multiple models are spread out over the "map") It's hard to see detail, when you can't zoom in. See attached. Or conversely, I want to navigate outside the preview window and need to pan or zoom out.

Does that make sense?

My guess is most people don't use the preview window? I'm interested to know if there is a better technique.

OK, I got you now, I deviated from the original topic that this is a wish.
Sorry about that.

I agree....... FYI, the PS view is a near match to the "Model Plan View" window. Change the view in the plan window and It'll change in the PS view. Zoom and Pan would be an improvement. IMHO

After voting I wonder exactly what kind of nig-nog would bother to vote "Not Needed" when camera navigating is a mess?

It must be a plot! Graphisoft must be having their own people casting votes to suppress product development! Or those guys in the basement at HQ are trtying to get laid off.

Sort of like ten years ago when I berated Graphisoft for having bad textures(lot of good it did, eh?) and was told "They can always buy the Artlantis shaders."

Marie Artlantoinette: "Let them eat cake."

Or, perhaps you did just to have something to vent about.... perhaps? 😉
