Option of Using material textures as cover fills

I do not know if this has been already asked for.

I would really like to asssign material textures as cover fill patterns. These will then appear as true materials in the floor plasn and sections
this way no other software would be needed to do presentations.
Also if floor plans could display shadows.......

The idea is to really have all drawings of a project in one .pln file.

This would be nice, but really means a serious change in the nature of the plan view. It would need to become a true 3D view of the model. I suppose that these features could be hacked onto the existing plan view, but that does not seem worth it.

You can do pretty much what you are looking for now by generating a plan section in 3D and using it as a background on your layout to be overlaid with your floor plan drawing and/or 2D notes, etc.

Asfar as I remember Autocad could use pictures as hatch (fill 😉) patterns several years ago!

Yes , Autocad could do this, I dont know of the newer versions. It was very convenient especially in the initial stages when most clients like to see a lot many alternative designs in a pretty short time.
