Text Fonts - Outlined but not filled in

Anonymous
Not applicable
We encountered instances when we needed to detail wall elevations where we have specified a particular font style for big labels to be on the wall panels.

For example, we selected ARIAL ROUNDED BOLD as the font, and typed out the letter(s) to be of a different color on the panel. As a result, the letter turned out with a black fill, which looks awful on the drawing.

In the end, we had to trace out the letter(s) with the Fill tool using a 25% fill. It was terrible.

If it were possible to apply the 25/50/75% fill to all fonts, that would be really cool. We would be able to vary the intensity of fonts appearance. Better still if a 0% fill would be made available, so ONLY an outline of the font is shown.

Have you tried using the "3D text" object?
You can attach any material with whatever associated fill pattern you want.

Barry.

PS you already have a 0% fill available as the "Empty Fill" - but of course this can't be applied to 2D text.
