Trace Reference a View Map from another AC file

Many times we develop Schematic layouts for a project and stuff gets added or brought in outside our office standards. So we will begin the file clean when we start CD's, getting dimensions to material unit modules, etc...
To do this you need the SD layout as an underlay. To currently do this you have to place on a layout and then trace reference that layout.
Wouldn't it be nice if you could just navigate to the file, like you do to place on a layout, and activate the trace function?
